Why does Instagram show as disconnected in my LUME account?
Updated
Quick answer
Instagram shows as disconnected in your LUME account when its authorization dropped, expired or was never completed. Click Reconectar (Reconnect) or Conectar (Connect) in the Connections card and authorize again on Instagram. The account must be a professional one, Creator or Business, and you should finish authorizing without delay.
The Conexões (Connections) card on your LUME account page shows the status of every channel your apps use. When Instagram shows as disconnected, the scheduled posts, metrics and automatic replies that depend on it stop. Here's what each status means and the causes, from most to least common. This page still shows Portuguese labels, so each one comes with an English translation.
What each status means
- Conectado (Connected), with the account's handle: all good. The Abrir (Open) button takes you to the Instagram screen.
- Desconectou (Disconnected): the connection dropped because the authorization expired or failed. The top of the page shows "Instagram desconectou" (Instagram disconnected), and the button is Reconectar (Reconnect).
- Não conectado (Not connected): Instagram was never connected, or you disconnected it. There's no alert; the button is Conectar (Connect).
- Vence em (Expires in) a few days: shows for other channels, with a Renovar (Renew) button. Instagram renews itself and never shows this warning.
Connect and Reconnect take you to the app screen where your plan uses Instagram: the Automations connections, the Instagram screen in Presence, or LUME Cortex. You connect there; see Presence and Instagram automations.
The authorization was canceled on Instagram
If you closed or declined Instagram's permission screen, you'll see "A autorização foi cancelada no Instagram" (Authorization was canceled on Instagram). Click Connect again and accept every permission requested.
The Instagram account isn't professional
LUME Hub only connects professional accounts. With a personal account, you'll see that Instagram didn't allow reading the profile and that the account must be professional, either Creator or Business. In the Instagram app, switch to a professional account and connect again.
The connection link expired
If you spent too long on Instagram's screen, you'll see "O link de conexão expirou. Clique em Conectar de novo." (The connection link expired. Click Connect again.) Start over and finish without pausing.
The connection wasn't saved
Messages such as "Não consegui salvar a conexão. Tente de novo." (Couldn't save the connection. Try again.) or "Algo falhou ao conectar o Instagram" (Something went wrong connecting Instagram) point to a temporary failure. Try again in a few minutes.
Instagram isn't listed in the card
The Connections card only lists the channels your plan's apps use. If your plan has no channel to connect, it says "Nenhum canal para conectar no seu plano" (No channels to connect on your plan). In that case, an Instagram connection, when your plan includes one, is made from the app screen where you schedule or track posts. To change plans, see Account and billing.
Frequently asked questions
Does my Instagram need to be a professional account?
Yes. If Instagram won't let LUME Hub read the profile, you'll be told the account must be professional, either Creator or Business. Switch the account type in the Instagram app and connect again.
Does the Instagram connection expire?
The Instagram connection renews itself, so it never shows the expiring warning. It only shows as disconnected when the authorization actually drops, and then you need to reconnect.
Why isn't Instagram listed in the Connections card?
The card only lists the channels your plan's apps use to post and measure. If Instagram isn't there, connect it from the app screen where you schedule or track your posts.
I reconnected and it still says disconnected. Now what?
Reload the account page or use Atualizar o painel (Refresh dashboard) in the account menu. If the alert stays, connect again and finish authorizing on Instagram without closing the window.
