How to import an OFX bank statement into LUME Hub Finance

Updated

Quick answer

To import a bank statement in LUME Hub, open Management > Finance > Statements and click the import button. Pick the bank account, choose the OFX, CSV or PDF file and wait while your browser reads it. Then review the lines, set categories and confirm: only confirmed lines go into your cash book.

Importing your bank statement is the fastest way to keep cash up to date: instead of typing every payment, you upload a file, review it and confirm. LUME Hub accepts statements as OFX, CSV or PDF, and the file is read in your own browser.

The menu is in English, but the labels inside Finance are still in Portuguese; below, each one appears in Portuguese with its meaning.

What an OFX file is and where to get it

OFX is the standard format banks use to export statements. In your bank's website or app, go to the statement area and look for the option to export or download as OFX. Pick the period and save the file to your computer. If your bank only offers CSV or PDF, those work too.

Step by step

  1. Open the Management app from the app launcher, choose Finance and go to the Extratos (Statements) tab.
  2. Click "Importar extrato" (Import statement). The "Importar extrato bancário" dialog opens.
  3. Under Conta bancária (Bank account), pick the statement's account. If it doesn't exist yet, type its name and LUME Hub creates it.
  4. Click "Escolher arquivo" (Choose file) and select the OFX, CSV or PDF.
  5. Wait for the read. LUME Hub compares each line with what's already in cash and tells you how many transactions are ready for review.
  6. In the review, set a category for lines that don't have one yet (the "Sem categoria" filter, meaning uncategorized).
  7. Mark anything that shouldn't go in as "Não é caixa" (Not cash), such as a transfer you already recorded another way.
  8. Click "Confirmar" (Confirm; the button shows how many entries will go into cash). You'll see how many entries were added and how many already existed and were just linked.

How to review a statement by payee

The review groups lines "Por contraparte" (By payee): every ride-share charge together, every payment from the same client together. Select the whole group and choose a category in "Definir categoria" (Set category) in one go. LUME Hub saves that choice as a rule, so the next statement arrives with that payee already categorized. Prefer to see it by date? Switch to "Por mês" (By month).

You can also filter lines (all, uncategorized, going into cash, already in cash, left out of cash) and use "Buscar contraparte…" (Search payee). A notice at the top says whether the read matches the statement totals; when it doesn't, check before confirming.

Discard or undo an import

  • Before confirming: "Descartar extrato" (Discard statement) deletes the lines. Nothing from that file went into cash.
  • After confirming: "Desfazer importação" (Undo import) removes the entries it created from cash.

The "Extratos importados" (Imported statements) list shows each file's status: awaiting review, confirmed, discarded or undone. The same file can't be imported twice while it's awaiting review or confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

What is an OFX file?

OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is the file format banks use to export a statement with the date, amount and description of each transaction. Banks usually offer it in online banking, in the statement area.

Does the imported statement go straight into cash?

No. After it's read, the statement waits for your review. It only goes into cash when you click “Confirmar” (Confirm). Until then you can discard it and nothing is left behind.

I already entered some transactions by hand. Will they be duplicated?

No. LUME Hub compares the statement with what's already in cash. Matching lines show up as already in cash (“Já estavam no caixa”) and, on confirm, they're only linked to the statement, not created again.

I imported the wrong file. How do I undo it?

Open the statement on the Statements tab and click “Desfazer importação” (Undo import). The entries it created leave your cash book and the statement is marked as undone.
