How to turn on new email notifications in LAWD Mail

Updated

Quick answer

To turn on new email notifications, open mail.lawd.me on a computer, click “Avisar quando chegar e-mail” (Notify me of new mail) below the folders and allow notifications in your browser. Alerts show the sender and subject, even with the tab closed. On a phone, notifications come from your mail app set up with an app password.

LAWD Mail tells you when new mail arrives: a browser notification shows up on your screen with the sender's name and the subject. At mail.lawd.me, alerts arrive even with the tab closed. This tutorial shows how to turn them on and what to do on your phone. For a tour of the screens, see the LAWD Mail guide.

How alerts work

  • Tab open: LAWD Mail checks your inbox every minute. New mail appears in the list on its own, the tab title shows your unread count, like "(3) LAWD Mail", and the browser shows a notification.
  • Tab closed: at mail.lawd.me, the server sends the notification to your browser, which shows it even without the page open.
  • Click the notification: the tab comes back and the email opens.

Step by step

  1. Open mail.lawd.me on a computer and sign in.
  2. Below the folders, click "Avisar quando chegar e-mail" (Notify me of new mail), the bell icon.
  3. Your browser asks whether the site can show notifications. Click Allow.
  4. Done: the button disappears and alerts are on in this browser.
  5. To test, send an email from another account to your @lawd.me and wait a minute.

Notifications on your phone

On a phone, notifications come from your mail app on iPhone or Android, set up with an app password. Follow how to set up LAWD Mail on iPhone, Android and Outlook and keep notifications on for that app in your phone's settings. On iPhone, browser alerts only work with the site added to the Home Screen.

Frequently asked questions

Do notifications work with the tab closed?

Yes, at mail.lawd.me: your browser gets the notification even with the tab closed. Inside LUME Hub, alerts work while the tab is open, even in the background.

I don't see “Avisar quando chegar e-mail”. Why?

It only shows on computer-sized screens and while your browser hasn't answered the permission yet. If you allowed it, alerts are on; if you blocked it, allow notifications in your browser's site settings.

What about iPhone?

On iPhone, the simplest path is the Mail app with an app password. Browser notifications on iPhone only work with the site added to the Home Screen.

How do I turn notifications off?

Clicking “Sair” (Sign out) turns off alerts for that account in that browser. You can also block notifications for the site in your browser settings.
