What is white label software and how does a white-label platform work?
Updated
Quick answer
White label is a product made by one company and delivered to the end customer under another company's brand. With white label software, an agency or coach uses a ready-made system, but clients see the agency's name, logo, colors and web address. In LUME Hub, that's the Console with your own branding.
White label is a business model where one company makes a product and another delivers it under its own brand. The name comes from a blank white label: the package arrives unbranded, and the seller puts their brand on it.
What does white label mean?
A white-label product is made by a supplier and sold to the end customer under another company's brand. Buyers only see the brand of the business that serves them. The supplier stays behind the scenes, running the technology.
You'll find the model in cosmetics, food, payment cards and, increasingly, software. White label software is a ready-made system you run with your name, logo, colors and web address.
How does a white-label platform work?
On a white-label platform, three things change hands in the client's eyes:
- Identity: the name, logo, colors and theme show up as yours.
- Address: clients sign in at your brand's address, like portal.yourcompany.com.
- Relationship: you're the one who serves, bills and agrees on the service.
The supplier stays responsible for uptime, updates and security. You focus on your method, service and sales.
Why agencies and coaches use white label
For a marketing agency, a coach or a consultancy, a white-label platform solves a common problem: giving clients a professional tool without building one. The usual benefits are:
- clients see your brand at every touchpoint, which strengthens your positioning;
- you deliver more value without hiring a development team;
- every client lives in one place, with their data organized.
What white label looks like in LUME Hub
In LUME Hub, the white-label version is the Console with your own branding. It brings what an agency needs into a single app:
| In LUME Hub | What carries your brand |
|---|---|
| Marca e site (Brand and site) | Name, logo, color, theme, favicon, vocabulary and home page |
| Address | A LUME Hub subdomain or your own domain, set up by LUME |
| Meus clientes (My clients) | A dashboard for each client, who signs in through your login |
| Meu Play (My Play) | Your course area, under /play at your address |
| Sales | The checkout page, paid into your Mercado Pago account |
Clients can't see your account, and you can view theirs with the Open client dashboard action. On a white-label dashboard, LUME-branded items such as the LUME Office are removed from the menu.
How to get started
Read the Console guide to learn the screens, then follow how to white-label your dashboard. If you also sell courses, see what is a membership area.
Frequently asked questions
Is white label the same as reselling?
They're close. In regular reselling, the customer sees the maker's brand. With white label, they see the brand of whoever delivers the service, and the maker stays behind the scenes.
What's the difference between white label and private label?
The terms are often used interchangeably. Private label is more common for physical goods made for one retailer; white label is the usual term for software rebranded by many businesses.
What carries my brand in LUME Hub?
The dashboard's name, logo, color, theme and favicon, the login page, the home page, the web address, your course Play and the checkout page. You can also rename what clients are called.
Do I need to code to run a white-label platform?
No. In LUME Hub, branding is set on the Marca e site screen, and the LUME team sets up your custom address.
