How to find leads on Google Maps with Prospector

Updated

Quick answer

To find leads on Google Maps with Prospector, open the Sales app, go to Search, type the niche, the city and the state, pick how many results you want and run the search. Prospector brings up to 10 new businesses per search, with phone, website and rating, and adds them all to the first stage of your Pipeline.

Prospector is the Sales app tool that turns Google Maps into a lead list. You enter a niche and a city, and it brings businesses with phone, address, rating and online presence, already inside your sales pipeline. This tutorial covers the search, how to read the results and what to do with each business.

Prospector searches businesses in Brazil. Its screens are in Portuguese, so on-screen labels below appear as Portuguese label (English meaning).

What Prospector brings for each business

Every business becomes a card with:

  • Name, address and phone as listed on Google. Landlines are marked "(fixo)".
  • Google rating and number of reviews.
  • Online presence: "Sem site" (no website), "Só rede social" (the "website" is an Instagram, Facebook, Linktree or WhatsApp link) or "Tem site" (has a website).
  • Contact buttons: "Abrir WhatsApp" (mobile numbers only), "Instagram", "Maps" and "Decisor no LinkedIn" (decision-maker on LinkedIn), which opens a LinkedIn people search with the company name and city.

Businesses with no website or only a social profile come first, and among them the ones with more reviews. They are often good targets if you sell websites, online presence or marketing.

Step by step

  1. Open the Sales app from the launcher (the nine dots at the top) and click Search in the menu.
  2. In Nicho (niche), type the kind of business, such as "barbearia" (barbershop) or "escritório de advocacia" (law firm). Portuguese terms match Google listings in Brazil best.
  3. In Cidade (city), type the city and pick the state in UF.
  4. In Quantidade (quantity), choose how many new businesses you want (1 to 10).
  5. Choose the filter: with "Só empresas sem site próprio" (only businesses without their own website) on, businesses with a website are left out. Click it to switch to "Todas as empresas" (all businesses).
  6. Click Buscar (search). In a few seconds a message tells you how many new businesses were added to the first stage of the pipeline.
  7. Review the list: the top line shows how many have no website and how many only have a social profile.
  8. Click Ir para o Funil (go to the pipeline) to organize the businesses by stage.

How to reach out on WhatsApp

The "Abrir WhatsApp" button opens the chat with a ready-made first message in Portuguese, which you can edit before sending. It introduces you, says you found the business on Google and asks whether you can send more details. Nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp.

When you open WhatsApp from My leads or from the lead's card in the Pipeline, the lead is marked Contatado (contacted) with the date. To learn about stages and statuses, see how to manage your sales pipeline in Prospector.

Tips for better searches

  • One search per niche and city. Prospector searches Google for "niche in city, state" and checks up to 60 Google results at a time. For more businesses, try a neighborhood, a nearby city or a variation of the niche.
  • Repeating doesn't duplicate. Businesses already in your base are skipped. If the search says "Nenhuma empresa nova" (no new businesses), change the city or the niche.
  • Move them to social selling. In My leads, the "Enviar p/ base geral" (send to lead base) button sends the business to RADAR, where you warm up the Instagram profile before messaging. See how to do social selling on Instagram with RADAR.

If the search fails or comes back empty, follow Prospector not finding new businesses.

Frequently asked questions

How many businesses does Prospector return per search?

Up to 10 new businesses per search. You pick 1 to 10 in the quantity field. Businesses already in your lead base are skipped, so running the same search again only brings ones you haven't seen.

Can Prospector search outside Brazil?

No. The search uses a city and the state code of a Brazilian state, and phone numbers are read in the Brazilian format to build the WhatsApp link.

Why do some businesses show no WhatsApp button?

The WhatsApp button only appears when the phone number on Google is a mobile number. Landlines are marked “(fixo)” and businesses with no phone show “sem telefone”.

What does the no-website filter do?

When the “Só empresas sem site próprio” button is on, the search leaves out businesses with their own website and only brings those with no website or with a social profile, such as Instagram, Facebook or Linktree, in place of a site.
