LUME Land door won't open on iPhone (“Não consegui abrir essa porta agora”): what to do
Updated
Quick answer
The message “Não consegui abrir essa porta agora” (I couldn't open this door right now) appears when the device can't build the next place, almost always because Safari on iPhone ran out of memory. Wait a moment and tap the door again; if it repeats, close other tabs and apps and reload the game page.
In LUME Land, each place on the island (a neighborhood, a shop, a house) is built the moment you walk through its door. On iPhone, the device sometimes can't build the next place, and your character says: "Não consegui abrir essa porta agora." (I couldn't open this door right now). You stay where you were and can try again.
Why won't the door open?
Each place you load uses a lot of memory: the map background and its drawings. Safari on iPhone has a memory ceiling for those drawings, and when it is exceeded the new place doesn't load. The game already works to prevent this:
- on phones, it keeps fewer places ready in memory than on a computer;
- when loading fails, it releases the other places from memory and retries on its own;
- the message only appears if that second try also fails.
The game also sends an automatic error report to the LUME team so the problem can be looked into.
Not every closed door is this error: shops have opening hours and some houses are closed. For hours and routes, see How to move around and change neighborhoods.
What to do, from simplest to strongest
- Wait a moment and tap the door again. Memory has often been freed by then.
- Close other Safari tabs and any apps you're not using.
- Reload the game page. LUME Land takes you back to the last place you were.
- Save memory on iPhone. The 3D map is heavy on memory: open the map only when you need it and keep "🧊 Visual 3D (beta)", in the 🎭 menu, turned off.
- If it keeps happening, play for a while on a computer, which keeps more places loaded.
Tips for playing on iPhone
- Add the game to your Home Screen: in Safari, tap Share and then "Add to Home Screen". LUME Land opens full screen, like an app.
- Walk by tapping the ground and enter by tapping the door.
- Use the on-screen buttons: 💬 to talk, 🎭 for gestures, 🗺 for the map and 🧍 for "Meu boneco" (My character).

Frequently asked questions
Do I lose my progress if I reload the page?
No. LUME Land saves your position and, when you come back, takes you to the last place you were.
Does this happen on a computer?
Much less often. Running out of memory to build places is a Safari limit on iPhone; computers keep more places loaded.
Can I install LUME Land on iPhone?
There is no App Store app, but Safari can put the game on your Home Screen: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
