How to auto-DM people who comment a keyword on Instagram (comment to DM)

The "comment WANT and I'll DM you" campaign runs on its own with a comment rule: people comment the keyword, see a public reply on the post and get the link in their inbox. Before you start, Instagram must be connected under Automations → Connections (how to connect Instagram) and the Rules screen must be in your plan (Complete).

The automation screens currently show their labels in Portuguese, so each label is quoted as it appears, followed by its meaning.

What happens when someone comments

1. Instagram tells the Hub about the new comment.
2. The Hub looks for an active rule with a comment trigger whose keyword matches the text.
3. The DM reply goes out as a private reply to the commenter: it lands in their message inbox.
4. If you filled in the public reply, it appears under the comment on the post.

Instagram allows only one private reply per comment. That is why the Hub never answers the same comment twice.

Step by step

1. In the menu, open Automações → Regras (Automations → Rules) and click Nova regra ("New rule").
2. In Nome ("Name"), type something you will recognize later, such as "Free guide campaign".
3. In Gatilho ("Trigger"), choose Só comentário ("Comments only"), or DM e comentário ("DMs and comments") if the same word may also arrive by message.
4. In Como casar ("How to match"), keep Contém ("Contains") to catch the word inside a sentence, or pick Exato ("Exact") if the comment must be only the word.
5. In Palavras-chave (separadas por vírgula) ("Keywords, comma-separated"), list the variations, such as "want, i want, guide". Matching ignores upper and lower case but not accents, so add accented and unaccented spellings when it matters.
6. In Resposta por DM ("DM reply"), write the message that delivers what you promised.
7. In Resposta pública ao comentário (opcional) ("Public comment reply, optional"), write something short, like "Just sent you a DM!".
8. Under Botões de link no DM (opcional) ("Link buttons in the DM, optional"), click Botão ("Button", with a + sign) and fill in Texto do botão ("Button text", up to 20 characters) and the URL. You can add up to 3 buttons.
9. To release the reply only to followers, turn on Exigir seguir o perfil para liberar ("Require a follow to unlock") and adjust the message for people who don't follow yet.
10. Make sure Ativa ("Active") is on and click Salvar ("Save"). You'll see "Regra salva ✓" ("Rule saved").

How the follow gate works

With the follow gate on, the Hub checks whether the person follows your profile. If not, they get your message (by default, a Portuguese line asking them to follow and tap "Já segui") with a Já segui ("I followed") button. When they tap it, the Hub checks again and sends the DM reply.

• The public comment reply goes out only on the first request.
• The request repeats at most 3 times per person and rule in 24 hours.
• In History, this step shows as "Aguardando seguir" ("Waiting for follow").

How to test it

Comment the keyword on a post from another account (the Hub ignores what the connected account writes). Then open History and check the comment's status: how to check your Instagram automation history. If nothing shows up, go through Instagram auto reply not working.
