What is LAWD Box? Free cloud storage in your LAWD account
Updated
Quick answer
LAWD Box is the free cloud storage that comes with your LAWD account, at box.lawd.me. You get 1 GB for files up to 100 MB each, with folders, previews of images, videos and audio, a PDF reader with annotations, share links valid for 7 days and a trash that keeps deleted files for 30 days.
LAWD Box is where your files live in your LAWD account: you store documents, photos and videos, organize them in folders and send a link to whoever needs them. This guide covers what it does, what the screen looks like and how to get started. The app is in Portuguese today, so labels appear with their meaning.
Who is LAWD Box for?
LAWD Box is for anyone with a LAWD account, the same one behind the free @lawd.me email, who wants simple cloud storage for everyday files and email attachments. It costs nothing and needs no separate sign-up.
Don't have an @lawd.me address yet? See the LAWD Mail section. If you open Box without an @lawd.me address, the screen asks you to choose one first.
Where to open LAWD Box
- at box.lawd.me, Box's own address;
- from the app launcher on mail.lawd.me and agenda.lawd.me (the nine-dot "Apps" button), or the left rail, under "Box";
- inside LUME Hub, from the "LAWD Box" menu item.
It's the same account everywhere: sign in to one LAWD app and the others open without asking for your password again.
How much fits in LAWD Box
| Item | Limit |
|---|---|
| Space per account | 1 GB |
| Size of each file | up to 100 MB |
| Share link | valid for 7 days |
| Trash | empties itself after 30 days |
At the top right, a bar shows how much you've used, such as "250 MB de 1 GB" (250 MB of 1 GB). Files in the trash still count toward the 1 GB until they leave it.
What the screen looks like
At the top are the "Enviar arquivos" (Upload files) and "Pasta nova" (New folder) buttons. Below, the folder path starts at "Meu Box" (My Box), with a shortcut to the "Lixeira" (Trash) in the corner. The list shows each file with its size and date.
Each file has four actions: copy link (7 days), download, rename and move to trash. On a computer they appear when you hover over the file; on a phone they're always visible.
Clicking an item opens:
- a folder: goes into it;
- an image, video or audio file: a preview, with "Copiar link" (Copy link) and "Baixar" (Download);
- a PDF: the PDF reader, with annotation tools;
- other file types: the file in a new browser tab.
What you can do
- Upload and organize: with the button or by dragging files onto the page. See how to upload files and create folders.
- Share by link: the copied link is valid for 7 days and opens without an account. See how to share a file link.
- Restore from the trash: deleted files stay there for 30 days. See how to restore deleted files from the trash.
- Read and annotate PDFs: write, draw and highlight, then save an annotated copy. See how to annotate a PDF.
- Use it with email: save attachments to Box and attach Box files. See how to save email attachments to LAWD Box.
Who can see my files?
Your files sit in a private folder in your account. No one sees what's in your Box except people who get a link you copied, and each link stops opening after 7 days. To open or download a file, Box creates a temporary address on the spot, just for you.
LAWD Box on your phone
Box works in your phone's browser, at the same box.lawd.me address. There, each file's actions are always visible, with no hovering needed. The "Enviar arquivos" (Upload files) button opens your phone's gallery and files, so you can store photos and documents straight from your phone. PDFs open in the same reader, fitted to the screen width.
How to get started
- Get your free @lawd.me address.
- Open box.lawd.me and sign in with your @lawd.me or the other email on your account.
- Create a folder with "Pasta nova" (New folder) and upload your first files.
To schedule meetings and deadlines around those files, use LAWD Calendar, on the same account.
