How to save email attachments to LAWD Box and attach files from Box

Updated

Quick answer

To save an attachment to LAWD Box, open the email in LAWD Mail and click the “Salvar no LAWD Box” (Save to LAWD Box) icon next to it: it lands in the “Anexos do e-mail” folder. To attach a Box file, click “Escrever” (Compose), then “Do LAWD Box” and pick the file. Each attachment can be up to 15 MB.

LAWD Mail and LAWD Box share the same account, so files move between them in one click: an incoming attachment goes to Box, and a Box file becomes an attachment on a new email. This tutorial covers both directions. The app is in Portuguese today, so labels appear with their meaning. To learn about Box, see the LAWD Box guide.

How to save an attachment to LAWD Box

When you open an email with attachments, each one shows under the subject as a tag with its name and size. Next to the name there are up to three buttons: download, open the PDF to read and annotate (PDFs only) and save to LAWD Box, with a disk icon.

The saved attachment goes to the "Anexos do e-mail" (Email attachments) folder, which Box creates on its own. The name gets a short code in front so it never overwrites another attachment with the same name.

Step by step

  1. In LAWD Mail (mail.lawd.me), open the email with the attachment.
  2. Under the subject, find the attachment and click the disk icon, "Salvar no LAWD Box" (Save to LAWD Box).
  3. A message confirms the file went to LAWD Box, in "Anexos do e-mail".
  4. To attach a Box file to an email, click "Escrever" (Compose), or "Responder" (Reply) or "Encaminhar" (Forward).
  5. At the bottom of the window, click "Do LAWD Box" (From LAWD Box). The "Anexar do LAWD Box" (Attach from LAWD Box) window opens.
  6. Open folders until you find the file (use "Voltar", Back, to go up) and click it. It joins the email's attachment list.
  7. Write your message and click "Enviar" (Send).

To send a file larger than 15 MB, use a link: store it in Box (up to 100 MB per file), copy the link and paste it into the email body. See how to share a file link.

PDFs: read and annotate straight from email

If the attachment is a PDF, the book icon, "Abrir (ler e anotar)" (Open, read and annotate), opens the LAWD reader. Annotate it and click "Salvar no Box" (Save to Box): the annotated copy goes to "Anexos do e-mail". The tools are covered in how to annotate a PDF.

For everything else email does, such as composing, replying and forwarding, see the LAWD Mail section.

Frequently asked questions

Where does a saved attachment go?

To the “Anexos do e-mail” (Email attachments) folder in LAWD Box, created automatically. The file name gets a short code in front so it never overwrites another attachment with the same name.

What's the maximum size to attach from Box?

Up to 15 MB per attachment, the same limit as any LAWD Mail attachment. For bigger files, put the file's link in the email body.

Do saved attachments use Box space?

Yes. They count toward your 1 GB in LAWD Box. If Box is full, you'll see “O seu LAWD Box está cheio (1 GB).” (Your LAWD Box is full).

Does the code in front of the name go along when I attach the file?

No. When you attach a Box file to an email, the short code is removed and the attachment keeps its original name.
