How to upload files and create folders in LAWD Box
Updated
Quick answer
To upload files to LAWD Box, open box.lawd.me, go into the folder you want and click “Enviar arquivos” (Upload files), or drag the files onto the page. To organize, use “Pasta nova” (New folder). Each file can be up to 100 MB, and the free account stores up to 1 GB in total, trash included.
Storing files in LAWD Box works like a folder on your computer: you pick where, upload and organize into folders. This tutorial shows how to upload files, create and rename folders and what to do when something doesn't fit. The app is in Portuguese today, so labels appear with their meaning. If this is your first time, see the LAWD Box guide.
Step by step
- Open LAWD Box at box.lawd.me and sign in.
- To create a folder, click "Pasta nova" (New folder), type a name and click "Criar" (Create).
- Click the folder to open it. The path shows at the top, starting from "Meu Box" (My Box).
- Click "Enviar arquivos" (Upload files) and pick one or more files from your computer or phone.
- Or drag the files straight onto the Box page: the area gets an outline and the files land in the open folder.
- Wait for each "Enviando…" (Uploading) line to disappear. The file shows in the list with its size and date.
How to rename and organize
- Rename: click the pencil next to the file or folder, change the name and click "Salvar" (Save). When you rename a folder, everything inside goes with it.
- Go back: click "Meu Box" or a folder name in the path at the top.
- Slashes in names: the / and \ characters become hyphens, since they mark folders.
- Empty folder: you'll see "Pasta vazia." (Empty folder) with a hint to drag files in or use "Enviar arquivos".
How much fits and what to do when it doesn't
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Arquivo de até 100 MB." | The file is over the maximum size (100 MB) |
| "Não cabe: o LAWD Box grátis tem 1 GB." | Your account has no room left for this file (free Box is 1 GB) |
| A file with that name already exists here | Rename one of them and upload again |
The bar at the top right shows your used space, such as "300 MB de 1 GB" (300 MB of 1 GB). To free up space, move what you don't need to the trash and empty it: while a file sits there, it still counts toward the 1 GB. See how to restore or delete from the trash.
After uploading
Click a file to open it: images, videos and audio open in a preview, and PDFs open in the reader with annotations. To send a file to someone, copy a link that's valid for 7 days: see how to share a file link.
Attachments you save from email go into a folder called "Anexos do e-mail" (Email attachments) automatically. Learn more in the LAWD Mail section.
Frequently asked questions
What's the maximum file size in LAWD Box?
Up to 100 MB per file. Anything larger shows the message “Arquivo de até 100 MB.” (Files up to 100 MB).
Can I upload several files at once?
Yes. Select several in the “Enviar arquivos” (Upload files) window or drag them all onto the page. Each shows as “Enviando…” (Uploading) until it's done.
How do I rename a file or folder?
Use the pencil (“Renomear”, Rename) next to the item, type the new name and click “Salvar” (Save).
What happens if a file with the same name already exists?
LAWD Box tells you a file with that name is already there and doesn't overwrite it. Rename one of them and upload again.
