How to send a calendar invite by email in LAWD Calendar

Updated

Quick answer

To send a calendar invite in LAWD Calendar, open or create the event, type the email addresses in the “Convidados” (Guests) field, separated by commas, and click “Salvar” (Save). The LAWD server emails each person a standard calendar invitation that works in Gmail, Outlook and on iPhone, even without a LAWD account.

LAWD Calendar sends meeting invites by email on its own: you type the addresses and save. This tutorial shows how to invite people, what they receive and what happens when the event changes. The app is in Portuguese today, so labels appear with their meaning. If you haven't created the event yet, see how to create a calendar event first.

How email invitations work

When an event has guests, you become the organizer and the LAWD server sends each person an invitation email. It follows the open calendar invitation standard (iMIP, the same one Gmail and Outlook use). That's why recipients see reply buttons right in their own email or calendar app, with no LAWD account needed.

The invite is sent from your @lawd.me address, and replies go back to it.

Step by step

  1. Open LAWD Calendar at agenda.lawd.me.
  2. Create an event with "Criar" (Create), or click an existing event to open "Editar evento" (Edit event).
  3. Check the title, "Começa" (Starts) and "Termina" (Ends). For an online meeting, paste the link in "Local ou link da reunião" (Location or meeting link).
  4. In "Convidados" (Guests), type the addresses separated by commas, for example: ana@gmail.com, bruno@company.com.
  5. Click "Salvar" (Save). You'll see a message confirming that guests get the invite by email.
  6. To change something later, open the event, edit it and save again: guests receive the update.

What to do if something goes wrong

  • "Endereço inválido em Convidados" (Invalid address in Guests): one of the emails is mistyped. Check the @ and the domain of each one and separate them with commas.
  • A guest can't find the invite: ask them to check spam or promotions and to search for the event title.
  • Too many guests: each event takes up to 50 guests. For bigger groups, split it into more than one event.

Change, cancel and follow up

Moved the time or the place? Save the event and guests get the update by email. Called it off? Click "Apagar" (Delete) in the event window and guests get the cancellation.

The calendar screen doesn't show who accepted or declined yet. Guest replies are sent to your @lawd.me address, the one in LAWD Mail.

Want to see invites and events on your phone too? Connect the calendar to your phone's calendar app: the steps are in how to sync LAWD Calendar on iPhone and Android.

Frequently asked questions

Do the people I invite need a LAWD account?

No. The invitation goes to their email in the standard calendar invitation format and opens in Gmail, Outlook, the iPhone Calendar app and other services.

How many people can I invite to one event?

Up to 50 guests per event. Your own @lawd.me address isn't added to the list, since you're already the organizer.

Do guests find out when I change the time?

Yes. When you save a change, the server emails the guests an update. When you delete the event, they get a cancellation.

Which address does the invite come from?

From your @lawd.me address. Guest replies go back to it.
